Gemmell does it again and again and again! When he sets scribing to paper sparks fly indeed. This man and his writing is some of the most heart tugging I've ever read, it holds the entirety of humanity, good and bad, in fictional characters that seem to lunge out and into your mind as the story unfolds. Through any flaws anyone might find, they are superficial compared to the heart of the story. This is a definite read my friends.

Definitely a great read!

As well as being very well-written and well thought out, it has not only great characters and a believability, but takes us into a future where you travel by "faxing" yourself, which is an extremely unique idea, not to mention carrying the story to Mars and Jupiter in such a way as to interweave them all and come up with one hell of a cliffhanger. I've added it to other great sci-fi books as "I,Robot", "2010", "Rendezvous with Rama", "Foundation", "Ringworld", "Neuromancer", "Cryptonomicon", "Cyber Hunter", and many more.

I thought I knew my American history reasonably well until Henry Mayer taught me how much I had missed. Garrison certainly was far more than the hot-headed crusader on the nut fringe I read about in one text after another. But this book also is more than a correction of an historial footnote; Mayer breathes life into the moral arguments about slavery before the Civil War and weaves America's history from the signing of the Constitution to the passage of the 14th Amendment into a colorful, lively tapestry. This is biography raised to its finest form.

I loved the series but...

Having read every book Mr Cornwell has published, I probably shouldn't dwell on a trivial issue, but it does bother me. In a number of places in the first volume there is refereces to spearmen marching through the CORN. Now I may have my history a bit confused, but I thought Corn was a north American grain that wasn't introduced to Europe until the 16th century! That coupled with the fact that Arthur is carrying a handful of cornflowers when he discovers Lance & Gwen in the temple of Isis, just bother me. There may indeed be wildflowers called Cornflowers in the British isles today, but I suspect that they were called something else in 498 AD.....

The first time I read this book was when I was a student in the Institute of Technology in 1976. At that time, I was fascinated by how exceptional this author is in his ability to simplify complex subjects. The book covers all the essentials of electronics, explained in a very clear and simple language. Very easy to follow. Not only do you learn the subject without suffering, but you really enjoy it. Today, I am a technical author/communicator. I am buying this new edition just for the memory. I just love it.

This is definitely one of my favorite books of all time. There are plenty of reviews already that pick apart details and issues, so I'll keep this short. The book states that Cornell was a man of many obsessions and who got a certain delight out of a certain celebrity voyeurism, this book is perfect for people who hold that sort of voyeuristic thirst for Cornell himself or can relate and understand to the hermetic lifestyle he chose for himself.

A book sure to make an impact on you
Rating: 5/5

This book was a real eye opener for me. I've read a good deal of "self-help" books and have found virtually none that pack the double whammy of useful information and very readable format. Dr. Baker's insight from both his clinical work and personal experience makes this book a very inspirational one to a reader that is trying to improve themselves and their life. This is not rocket science but rather a very common sense way to view life that, if applied, is sure to make a positive impact in a person's life. Since it does not appear that Dr. Baker has written anything else, I will likely read some of the authors Dr. Baker referenced in his book, Dr. Seligmann to name one. A book you won't be sorry you read.

McMurtry in top form/Simon & Schuster in shameful form

I have enjoyed all of the books in The Lonesome Dove saga, and this was no exception. My review though is about the unbelievably bad proof- reading job done on this book. I have been an avid reader for close to 40 years, and have read a wide selection of classics, modern fiction, histories, biographies, and text books, written and published throughout this century and the last. I have NEVER read a book that had so many typos, misspelled words, repeated bits of dialogue, and descriptive pronouns attributed to the wrong character. What is going on ? This is the work of a celebrated writer. His work deserves perfection in the presentation. I usually find one or two typos every dozen books or so. In this book I counted at least 10. All I can say is "Shame on you, Simon & Schuster"

If you're not familiar with Genograms you will after you read this book. It tells you how to use this book for your family sessions and by using genograms as an therapeutic technique. It I recommend you buy a genogram software so it can help you do what. It doesn't come with a CD. Which is the down side of this book you will have to pay extra money for that.I used this book for my Marriage and Family System Class.
