I love this book. (But, maybe i'm biased)I am a (still) single Ph.D. in my early 30's, with high (and to others' minds, bizarre) standards (such as wanting to marry a girl who is meltingly warm, brilliantly intelligent, incurably positive, passionate, blue eyed, and last but for me, not least, a Hebrew virgin). My friends and family press me to settle for less, to be "realistic", that can't i see, i'm single because i'm too choosy.Susan Page tells me to "GO FOR IT!" and that i'm still single because (in my case) i've been too lazy, shy, or scared to do what i need to do to find that incredible, special gal. (And i agree with her). This book woke me up and reminded me what i believe in.Well worth 20 times its price. If you pass up this up, you may really miss out.

Book review by Sasha for Mr.Jones class

The Witch of black bird pond was a very interesting, yet excelent book. Many times in this book it got very intence. An example is when the towns people went to go find Hannah to burn the house down becuase they believed she was a witch. I like books when they get exciting. This gives you the thrill of wanting to read more to find out what happens next. This book also was not only a good book, but told you about how hard life was in the colonial times. Next to all these things, this book created alot of suspence. At the begining of the book, Kit jumped into the water. It was suspenceful because it never told you if she could swim or not. It made you believe that there was a chance that she could drown. This book gave you a very good idea of what it was like for a young girl to move to a whole new land where everything is different. I think it really helped young readers better understand how it was back then. I know it helped me! I think everyone should read this book.

or "How To Be Happy"
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
This book could also be called "How To Be Happy" b/c it lists in easy and quick detail how everyone can become happy and content, whether this means material wealth to you or spiritual wealth. And if you read this book and follow it, you will achieve both desires and more, whatever you wish. A quick, fun and insightful read, it will become quite dog-eared from constant reference. :) Enjoy it! It opened quite a few new worlds of insight for me.

25 years after reading this book for the first time, I STILL love this book as much as I did the first time I read it. The characters are warm and real and the story still inspires me. I have given a copy of this book to every young girl in my life and everyone of them has been thrilled once they have read it. I re-read this book at least once a year and it has a treasured place of honor among my collection of girlhood favorites.

Not a ladies mystery
Rating: 5/5

This is my first exposure to Sarah Paretsky. I thought that Tunnel Vision was a first rate mystery. The details in the underground scenes were fantastic. I felt like I was really there, just steps behind the flood. It was so vivid it was terrifying. I can see those chicago tunnels yet! Sarah Paretsky has a good head for technical detail, good as Crichton et. al., hell, good as any man, writer or otherwise. This is by no means a gentile "ladies tea party mystery. "V.I. Warshawsky is tough yet desireable, one cool lady detective. Highly recommended.

I just finished reading this, and I've read about 50 of her books, and this is one of my favorites. Dora, the main character is amazing, and never quits trying to defeat the villian, even when she's not sure who it is. There is a wonderful cast of characters, and you fall in love with all of them. And you are truly upset, when they are upset, and happy when they are happy. I highly recommend this book.

a "must have" for new or experienced moms
Rating: 5/5

All along I've been buying what I thought was the least expensive baby formula, but after reading the "secret" about baby formulas in "Bargain Buys for Baby's First Year" I learned that I was actually buying the most expensive one. I've also stopped using Dreft, bottled baby water, Desitin, and "baby" sunscreens since I read this book. I was surprised to learn that many of the baby products I thought were "must-haves" were actually useless, and in some cases, dangerous. I wish I had this book before I bought my baby equipment, but even now I'm saving money on the everyday things like diapers, formula and medicines. I'll definitely buy this book for all my pregnant friends.

The book "Don't Scream", by Joan Lowery Nixon, is a an excellent mystery. I Found this book to be extremely addictive. You just can't put it down. Once you start, it's hard to stop. In this book, Jess is the main character. Two new guys move into her neighborhood, and a strange accident begins to occur. Jess becomes not only curious, but scared. One thing Jess can't understand is that the two guys are connected. One of the guys has been given a new identity, and the other wants revenge. The book is very detailed and gives you the feeling you are in the story. It keeps you on the edge of your seat! I would recommend this book to any young reader that is looking for a great book that keeps your attention thoughout the whole mystery!
