Vivid setting, excellent non-stock characterization, a compelling and bizarre situation, unexpected moments. As she did with The Cage, Schulman surprises convincingly. I loved how her protagonist changed and grew. It's one of those infrequent miracles of fiction that the heroine becomes more sympathetic and interesting when we read something which should make us dislike her but which instead gives us hope for her future. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

One of the most exciting novels I have read in years!

Deep Background - book cover picture

This book hits the ground running. It doesn't allow you the typical expository, introductory period. Instead, it completely sweeps you away, practically from the very first page, into one of the more interesting and creative mystery storylines that you will ever read.I felt completed engrossed by its stunningly realistic views into the inner workings of a presidential administration. The dialogue was so natural and the setting descriptions so vivid, that I often forgot that this was a novel. It felt more like I was actually witnessing events that were not meant to been seen by a Washington outsider, such as myself. Quite an accomplishment for a first time novelist. Watch out, Clancy, there's a newcomer on the block.

This is a very good reference book for anatomy and physiology students. I also used Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations (Volume 1) and (Volume 2)by Patrick Leonardi, which is sold also on amazon.com prepared me for the type of questions asked on my college exams. With these three books, I got a 96 average in my undergrad anatomy and physiology class. Definitely, get these three books.

An account of one person's journey across the sea of life.

Sea Change : Alone Across the Atlantic in a Wooden Boat - book cover picture

I picked up this book expecting a life and death adventure story akin to "The Perfect Storm" or "Survive the Savage Sea". That's not what I got, but I was not disappointed. This book took me on a much appreciated trip into the mind and soul of a person sailing through the crazy waters of life. His account of his journey is filled with thoughtful reflection and honesty - important tools for smooth sailing. I wish there were more books like this one, and I hope Peter Nichols will continue to write.

An excellent primer for web project management.

Real Web Project Management: Case Studies and Best Practices from the Trenches - book cover picture

Clearly, the web as we know it will only become more and more ingrained in our businesses and our society. As a relative neophyte to the Internet space I found this book to be invaluable in developing a better understanding of web development. Probably, the best thing about the book was its focus on practical applications and real world examples. The Internet of the 1990's was filled with industry jargon and pie in the sky ideas that have gone the way of the dodo (and Internet stocks sky high valuations). If someone is looking for how to develop a web site the right way, right away then this book is a great place to start.

Blueprints for High Availability: Designing Resilient Distributed Systems - book cover picture

One of the most interesting things about this book is that it treats the subject of availability as more then just a technology issue. It goes into areas such aas basic good systems admin practices, Physical placement of equipment, building and facility services. Availabilty is more then just Raid disks, HA software and redundant hardware. They do a very good job explaining all aspects of HA, and giving interesting real world examples in thier short interludes. The new last chapters adds a lot of relevence, exploring sept 11th and its effect on trading. A good informative read.

Anne McCaffery's best Pern book ever!

Book title: Moreta : Dragonlady of Pern

Moreta : Dragonlady of Pern - book cover picture

In my opinion, Moreta: Dragonlady Of Pern is AM's best Pern book ever. It's incredibly sad and sweet, and left me sobbing for days afterward. It finally explained the whole Moreta's Ride ballad that I kept reading about in the other books as well, which was very nice. The characters are believeable, the plot is wonderful, and (as far as I could tell) all the loose threads tie together in the end. This is a book that any AM fan will not want to miss!

Blood is just as sweet as Chocolate

Blood and Chocolate - book cover picture

This book (Blood and Chocolate) is such a good book for teens. I say for teens because younger kids will get, well, bad influences from the book since they cuss a good amount in there. But then it is sssoooo descriptive! Whenever the characters kiss, Anette Curtis Klause makes it sound everlasting, well, like passionate. It is a real page-turner! I mean you WANT to turn the page to see what happens next, when you read it, at one point, you won't be able to put it down. I mean, it takes you to a whole other world with werewolves and fantisy. Bottom Line: This book has everything you would want in a fictional fantisy book. It's really terrific. ;)

The Haunted School

Goosebumps : The Haunted School (Goosebumps) - book cover picture

I think this book is not as scary as the others in the series. But the plots of the story is very exciting and mysterious.I finished this book within 2 hours nonstop.
The story is about a boy called Tommy who moved into a new town with his parent and he went to a new school. At this school, he made two new friedns,Thalia and Ben.One day he's going to the Art room and he stumbled into an elevator that only moved from side to side. Then ,it brought him into the classroom which was using by the first class of Bell Middle School. And Tommy dicovered that everything was grey in colour in this world!
I think this story is a little bit creepy becaues the background of the story is at an old school. And my school is an old school, too.Every time I use the elevator in my school, I am afraid that it will bring me into another world!I will recommended this book to my classmates who always tells me the ghost story about our school.
