I cannot begin to say how much this book has helped me. The author has dispensed with the theoretical dribble that you find in most books and given us a hands-on manual of how to administer an Oracle database from the ground up. I've just come to a 24x7 environment, so I bought this book thinking it would just help me with tuning, backup & recovery and a few other facets of the job, but after reading it, I feel confident that I could handle any type of Oracle assignment, from the capacity planning stage all the way through to production. It's that comprehensive folks, and it's written in a style that keeps you interested. He doesn't just tell you what to do, he tells you why and he tells you what to expect if you don't. I don't care what type of environment you're running, this book will help you be a better DBA and will keep you home where you belong on the weekends. Stop reading and put it in your shopping cart.

Delightful Light Reading!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
My husband and I both read and enjoyed the first Thursday Next novel, The Eyre Affair, but we agree that the second book is even better, mainly because the plot takes off more quickly now that the necessary introductions are out of the way. Both of these novels are wonderful reads for literature lovers, especially those with an established familiarity with nineteenth-century British literature. You should be warned, however, that this second book ends with something of a cliffhanger - we will have a hard time waiting for the third novel to appear in 2004!
These are such entertaining novels that I am recommending them or lending them to all of my friends. They would be the perfect vacation reading gifts for the English major/teacher, librarian, wordplay fan or science fiction reader!

Laurell K. Hamilton once again gives readers the thrill and excitement they want. This continuation of the Anita Blake series is just as good as the previous novels. I personaaly love the series and this is one of my favorites. Hamilton's style of writing leaves nothing to be desired - using a no nonsense, very "tight" way of putting things together. Her descriptive talents are also an excellent attribute. I hope that you enjoy this bumpy, roller coaster ride book as much as I did!...

I too have read and own all all of the books in this series and fully agree with the previous reviewers-this is good reading for anyone interestted in the SEALS and are looking for more books about the SEALS. These books make an excellent additon to the more commonly known series of the SEALS written by Richard Marcinko (the Rogue Warrior). I look forward to each book in the series Riker publishes.

I give it two tumbs up!

This book is really interesting. He masterfully describes the relationship between money and the poor and money and the rich. His thoughts about making money have inspired me to want to make money work for me and not me work for money. It has changed my views about money dramatically because I no longer feel that I need a set profession to earn millions, I can gain riches through investing and real estate.

A wonderful book to use when writing a report about Lincoln.
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I had to read this book for school, but unlike some school-assigned books, this was actually very interesting. The pictures are clear and detailed, and the writing is very descriptive. After reading this, I almost felt as if I knew Lincoln. I could almost feel his dissapointment in his failures and losses in his life. I wept with the nation at his assassination. I have read and reread this book many times. It is truly compelling.

Ms. Watt's Class Book Review
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Our class liked the part of the book where Ms. Gorff turned the kids into apples. We learned that there isn't any ninetenth story in a building and that buildings aren't upside down. Everyone thought the book was very funny. The book taught us not to be by a window because you might fall out. Our class learned about math and gravity when we read this book. Everyone should read this book because it was fun to read.

A Life saver!
Rating: 5/5

I stumbled across this book in the library at a point where I was beginning to think I was really losing my mind. This book was a big help to me because I don't feel so alone now and I have started to understand my condition better. This book is like a great novel, which one of the other reviews states. It certainly captivates me! And the author is right; you really should take your time reading it, because there is so much to learn here, and you don't want to miss anything. You'll refer to it again and again. The language is easy to understand and the tone is never condescending. I love it.

A pure Scottish children's series
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I love the Katie Morag series of children's books. Little ginger haired Katie Morag is split between the traditional ways of Granny Island and the modern Granny Mainland. Granny Island works with her hands and isn't afraid to get dirty. Granny Mainland wears nice clothes and bothers about her appearance. Katie Morag loves them both, but they don't appreciate each other. How to solve this? Why, with sheep of course. How perfectly Scottish.

Should Be Required Reading
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
My first thought half way through the book was: This should be required reading in every high school and college English/Sociology/Black Studies, you name it, course. McWhorter deserves universal accolades for a book that is a breath of intellectual fresh air. With the deftness and precision of a skilled salesman selling a mechanical kitchen tool, McWorter slices and dices each and every myth and argument used by many Black leaders to lay claim to perpetual victimhood for their people. The destruction of these myths and arguments is complete. His logic is impeccable. His scholarly approach to a subject that is frought with emotion is remarkable. (Well, he is a PhD Linguist after all.) But, his writing style is not pedantic in the least. He is a true academician, in love with the search for truth. I could go on and on in praise of this book, but I will end by saying: If you want the know the truth about the current racial climate in America, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK".
