Haunted (The Mediator, Book 5) - book cover picture

This book was very great. It was about a girl named Susannah Simon and she is a Mediator. She can communicate with the dead and she helps them find their way to hell or heaven. But it gets in the way of her attempt of a normal teenager. At least she has Jesse, the ghost of the 19th centuary haunting her bedroom. But there is a guy who has the same gift of gab with the undead she has. He's after her and he knows how to send Jesse to the Great Beyond.

Opinion: You should buy this book, it's very good. I got mines from Borders and it was the cheap price of $6.99 (paperback) This book has its bad times and its good times.

On her website, Sarah Dessen claims that this book is her favorite of hers because it describes how she was when she was a waitress.Colie is a young lady who has a famous mother (she has weightloss products galore) and she lost a lot of weight. In the beginning of her life she moved a lot but now she stayed in one place. When she finally lost weight she was caught with a boy looking at the stars but was thought to be having sex with this young man.She has been called very nasty names and is hated by just about everyone. One summer her mother makes her spend time at her eccentric aunt's home and she finds out what it is like to actually have friends. In this book Dessen shows how she feels and this is a coming age story.

Exellent, I will read it again and again.

Book title: Dolores Claiborne

Dolores Claiborne - book cover picture

How does he do it? Every time he writes a book it has me caught from beginning to end, and Dolores Claiborne is no exception. Despite the fact that she has killed her husband, you can still feel a sympathy for her, and by the end of the book you really feel like you know her. I think Stephen King has really managed to capture the bond between a mother and her children, and he has made me feel that, put in those situations that she did the right thing. He has also shown though how she has really had to srtuggle to come to terms with what she has done, and that it hasn't been as easy as the locals think it has been on her. I really loved the book, and all I could think at the end was, why has it ended already! The film was a real dissapointment, although Kathy Bates really played Dolores well, the way it was done was terrible, they didn't do justice to such an excellent book.

Best book on PTSD

Trauma and Recovery - book cover picture

I was amazed at how much substantial information this book contained. Initially it covers victims of trauma that are adults (rape survivors and soldiers). Then it moves into the realm of child abuse and this is where the book shines. Acknowledging that an abused child doesn't have a "me before the trauma" it goes into great detail about the life and experience of an abused child. I have never read a book that gave me so much information and hit the nail on the head so astutely. A must have for those dealing with the aftermath of trauma.

How Can Someone Not Like This Book?

Book title: The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, Book 1)

The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, Book 1) - book cover picture

This is the best book I have EVER read. The plot is a twisting and twirling roller coaster ride. Characters that someone can actually believe in. Lyra and Pan have all the adventures every kid would dream of having. It has all the magic one can imagine to be in Rowling's "Harry Potter" and Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings", I seriously excepted Harry Potter to come flying out on his Firebolt with Serafina at his side, well, not really. Pullman sets a high standard for himself to make the rest of "His Dark Materials" just as good, which he does wonderfully, just like he does with the Sally Lockhart books. "The Golden Compass" has a wonderfully crafted ending that makes you run out of your chair, go to the nearest bookstore, empty your coffee money to buy the "Subtle Knife" Which is exactly what I did.

Rilla of Ingleside (Anne of Green Gables) - book cover picture

I think this was the BEST book in the series. I loved Rilla, and she IS like Anne in many ways. My favorite part was when Rilla took Jims home. And this isn't something the author just threw in the book; Rilla matures due to the war and taking care of Jims. She learns loss, maturity, and most important of all, love. I cried when Walter died, and I'm NOT a crier. I loved the end too, I cried there. I recommended these books to my sister and she loved them too. Lucy Maud Montgomery is a very talented writer. I just wish she had written more books!

Shakespeare at his best

The Tragedy of King Lear (The New Cambridge Shakespeare) - book cover picture

King Lear was written at Shakespeare's most prolific period, a time in which he rapidly composed Hamlest, Othello, and Macbeth. I believe, without a moments hesitation, that King Lear is his greatest work, and probably the greatest play ever written. The plot moves quickly with excitement and action. The central themes of the play (among which are abandonment, unconditional love, and self-realization) are some of the most serious and important aspects of human nature. The play brings up many important quiestions: Why should we forgive others? Can we ever trust someone? All of these areanswered in this play. I recently saw a professional production of the play, and found myself quickly moving from emotions of fear, to laughing, to wrath, and at the climactic end of the play, breaking down into tears, having been drained by the plays rapid motion and tension. This play will live with me forever.

The Greatest

The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide - book cover picture

Douglas Adams may have been the greatest writer in English since Shakespeare. Certainly he was the greatest English humorist since Noel Coward. I've read everything of his that I can find. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide has given me more reading enjoyment than probably any other book I've read. Adams' premature death deprives us of one of the greatest wits ever to string together a sentence in the English language.

Eaters of the Dead (Previously The 13th Warrior) - book cover picture

Crichton did an excellent job on this book. The introduction completely confused me but once I started onto the beginning it was great. This was one of the very few books I can actually read. Kept me interested & wondering what Ibn & the other warriors were going to do next. I only recently found out this wasn't a true story. It's great to actually think it's real while reading it. I was actually disappointed to find out it wasn't true. This was a great job of Michael Crichton.

I'm not much of a horse fan, but this series, this book in particular, are a lot of fun to read. The author especially describes the races well. I picked up this one because of the storyline, and it was just as good as I thought, but a lot of the book was taken up by something not exactly real. I don't like to read that middle part as much, because the real story that comes in the later books is different. Oh well. The beginning and ending are remarkably well written, and that keeps the book on my shelf.
