Unforgettable!

I enjoyed "Ashes" immensely and can't wait to read more of Kathleen Woodiwiss' books. She has a wonderful, flowery writing style and vibrant characters that keep you hooked, page after page. At first I was a bit disappointed with the switch from Civil War New Orleans to Minnesota (!), but KW's sense of storytelling, atmosphere and suspense (for awhile it felt like a Victoria Holt gothic!) made this book such a treat, I couldn't put it down. Isn't that the joy of reading? For no other reason, let this book entertain you, which should never be underestimated!!

Why doesn't Al Franken have his own show?
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Al Franken is more mature, honest, and tolerant than most representing the right. He's a proven good entertainer and has a great sense of humor. As you can see by the bestsellers list in books, he's consistently above books such as O'Riley's and his book has a higher rating. So, why hasn't any network asked him to do a show? I'll tell you why, because CEO's and corporations are conservative by nature and people like Franken pose a threat to their agenda. It's sad. By the way, one of the liars posted on the cover, Bill O'Riley happened to get caught lying about the Fox News lawsuit. First he denied having anything to do with the suit and then later stated that he didn't regret pressuring Fox to sue Al. How ironic that he lied about suing for being called a liar!

We're now reading it in my Religious Education Class and it helps you make it through the day. I crammed a whole weekend into reading it. I never put it down and I marked all the ones that really touched me. I thought, I'm going to show this to my daughter and she's going to like it to!!

...a bracing thriller of the highest order!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Timed perfectly for the 100 year celebration of "Papa's" birthday, this spy-thriller by Dan Simmons takes the tropes of the genre (high-tech information, multi-armed plots) and makes them highly readable. Furthermore, Simmons makes Hemingway himself come vibrantly alive as one of the main characters (the other being an amoral FBI agent). Though some of Simmons "fans" may not be able to handle the change in genre (he's gained most of his fame writing SF and horror), those who don't suffer from MTV generation attention spans or simple-minded formula expectations will be generously rewarded. This is a bracing thriller of the highest order!

A HEAVENLY STORY THAT IS SIMPLY DEVINE
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
This book started out sad and tragic, but in every cloud, well, you know the rest. This is a story about tragedy turned into triumph narrated from a young girl who has just left the earth and is now in heaven looking down. It's a story of hope. It made me laugh and cry, but in the end it uplifted me. Another book I would recommend that lifted my spirits is called, The Little Guide To Happiness. It made me laugh without the tears. I highly recommend these books. I can't wait for the movie version of Lovely Bones.

At the end of Catching Midnight, I wondered what laid ahead for Gillian and Aimery, but we can wait for another book in this series for that! Hunting Midnight is Ulric - Gillian's ex-lover - and Juliana's story. The story begins with a mysterious duo, one I would love to see in the next book of this series! - seeking refuge and a new home. Their quest gives the story its general theme, but it's the love between life mates that drives the plot. Juliana is a maiden fleeing the clutches of an older, amoral bethrothed, and Ulric is a heart-broken pack leader lost without love. From the moment these two meet sparks fly - literally. As Ulric initiates Juliana into the world of sensuality, she helps him find love again.Emma Holly's second foray into paranormal eromatica is even better than the first and a definite must read for Holly fans. As I hinted at earlier, my wish for the next book in this series ... A story about Bastien

STEPHANIE'S NEW SERIES IS OFF TO A GREAT START!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Mass Market Paperback
Frankly, I'm mystified by some of the less-than-enthusiastic reviews this book has gotten. THE LADY CHOSEN ranks right up there with SCANDAL'S BRIDE, my favorite in the Cynster series. Tristan was a very likeable hero and Leonora was the perfect foil for him. Best of all, there was give-and-take on both sides as they came to the inevitable realization that they were meant for each other. The supporting characters were well-drawn and aided the plot, as they are supposed to do. Well done, Stephanie!
