Understand Reaganomics
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
This book was written about the same time that Ronald Reagan began his years in the Oval Office. Milton Friedman's economic views influenced Reagan's policies and helped turn around the nation's economy in the 1980s.
It is very interesting to read this now -- a quarter of a century later. At times Friedman sounds like a prophet, predicting accurately the results of economic policy. At other times it feels as if this book was written yesterday. Ideas that are hot political issues today (like school vouchers) were discussed in much the same manner in 1980.
This is a classic book and a "must read" for those that want to understand the power of free markets and capitalism.

I'm 17, and I loved this book. My sisters, aged 14 and 11, both loved this book. The story encompasses over 100 years, and its breadth and the way it shifted back and forth reminded me sometimes of _Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe_. It reads like a modern fairy tale in its use of language, its larger than life yet somehow not unbelievable characters, the twists and turns of the story, and the obvious inevitability of _everything_ that happens. Every word makes you think "Of course..." as the story is unveiled, layer by layer, like an onion being peeled.

Having read the play in high school in 1949, the movie(1950) was a welcome event. The play is great and the movie an awesome portrayal of the Rostand play. Jose Ferrer shall NEVER be eclipsed is this role for which,of course,he won an Oscar. The film was originally made on a "B" movie budget in black and white. Would certainly like to have a colorized version of it if it ever becomes available, no matter what the cost. Had the original been filmed in color it would have been beyond decription. A must for all romantics.I have seen it over 60 times and it always brings a few tears.

Oliver Twist was a boring story. The setting of the story was in the past in London. The main characters in the book were oliver,Noah,Nancy. My favorite character was Oliver because he was brave when he ran away from bad guys.My favorite part of the book was when the bad guys died. I thought the illustrations were good. I would recommend this book to people who like to be bored ages 16-up because it is not cool for teenagers.

First book for English class I've ever enjoyed.

Well, maybe not quite, but it's certainly the first one I've gotten so involved in. I related to the characters' dilemmas so well it was rather frightening. The absurdity/satire, while not for everyone, is also right up my alley. I also spent a few days carrying the book around with me everywhere and whenever I'd see one of my friends, I'd show them some part about Boknononism and tell them "This is just what I was trying to say when you were telling me I was nuts!"Engaging reading.

LOL at the one-star liberal reviews!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Apparently the truth does not matter NEARLY as much as their blind hatred of everything American! Yet another reason I could never be a liberal. Time and time and time again Blimp Moore has been proven a liar, a fabricator and a traitor by simple analysis of the FACTS. From his oxymoronic `fictional documentaries' to his speeches and public appearances it's an astounding wonder that anyone would waste their time defending this pompous, self-serving hypocrite. Again, facts really don't matter to the left, only HATE, HATE, HATE! (The party of tolerance and diversity, yea right!)
Buy the book. I could be an eye opener to the open-minded. Read it before the liberal thought police have it banned forever!

I filmed several scenes from Ender's Game with a group of about five people for an English class assignment. One of the aspects of the book that helped us do the assignment and that improved its overall quality was the dialogue before each chapter between two of the people at the Battle School. Their discussions of Ender's emerging violence added to Ender's own thoughts. Another part of the book that I liked was the dual storyline with the main story of Ender at Battle School and a secondary story of Peter and Valentine with Earth politics.

I loved this book, featuring a young blond girl who hides her best friend Ellen in her house. They then travel to her uncle henry's where she and other Jews are taken to Sweden on her uncle's fishing boat. This book describes the hardships the people in Denmark went through during WW2. It demonstrates the courage and responsibility every member of the resistance has to take. I've never met a person who didn't like this book. I personally have read it 7 times. If you liked this book, be sure to read "Enchantress from the Stars".

A winding road in the rain.....
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
This won't be a spoiler review, so you won't learn much about the plot, but it is a terrific and haunting book to read. Faber states in his introduction that he wanted to write a book to celebrate the beauty of the planet, question our treatment of animals, and pay homage to a castle in Scotland where he lived while he wrote this book. He does all three beautifully, centering around the main character, Isserley, and her mission. Isserley drives the winding Scottish country roads a lot, and you'll hear the swish of car wheels on wet pavement as you read. You'll feel the heavy raindrops fall from trees that overhang the road. You'll be amazed by snow and it's crystalline miracle. You'll be grateful for the natural beauty of our planet, and you'll ask yourself what you are doing in your life to preserve it. If I could, I'd read this book in a rain forest, and let the sound of falling rain accompany each chapter.

For anybody who likes the TV show 'Ellen' it is almost certain that they will love this book. It is written with humour and in a style that makes you feel you cannot put it down, although at points it is impossible to read due to laughing so much! The best chapter, and the one I feel really makes the book, is 'The Plane Truth' which draws incredibly witty and relevant observations to hilarious scenarios! It shows Ellen DeGeneres to have an amazing talent for what she does and I would recommend this book to ANYONE.
