The Miracle Worker - book cover picture

I read Miracle Worker in class with my classmates and teacher. I find Miracle Worker a very touching story, about Helen Keller and Annie Sulliven. Some of the other characters are: Captain Keller, his wife Katie and his son, Helen's half brother, James. In the beggining of the book, Helen is a wild animal, but we see how this all changes, with Annie's help. By looking at Helen's actions throughout the book, we see what a great mind Helen has, and if she knew how to speak she would have tons to say. It is a very good book

The magic in life

Goddess of the Sea (Berkley Sensation) - book cover picture

I loved this book. It was a wonderful blend of romance and magic. I love the way Ms Cast describes the rich underwater scenery. She has a way of making you believe her story could happen. She lovingly adds a bit of pagan belief structure to her book to get the reader to understand that all women are beautiful, special and create their own wonderful magic. She speaks eloquently of the differences in us all that make us truly unique, and that we should embrace those differences. From the first page to the last, Ms. Cast keeps you spellbound and turning the page, eager to discover what happens next.

The Play's The Thing

Book title: Amadeus
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Amadeus - book cover picture

I first saw this play during its original run on Broadway. I went to see it with my college drama class. I had no idea what to expect. The amazing Ian McKellen played Salieri, and from the moment the play began until the final curtain, I was mesmerized. I skipped the other play we had tickets for and went back to see "Amadeus" again in "standing room". The play is wonderful, yes. But I truly think its ultimate success depends upon the actors playing the roles of Salieri and Mozart. I think the original Broadway cast was a once-in-a-lifetime group, but I'm looking forward to the upcoming Broadway revival. Read the play, and then go see it come to life!

Frost at Christmas - book cover picture

If you are a conformist, don't read this book. If you are a bureauocrat, a corporate toady, or a member of the politically correct movement, don't read this book. If you are fashion-challenged and don't measure up on the looks scale; if you work for a total idiot who doesn't appreciate the work you do; if you're an underdog who needs a character to identify with, this book is for you. Jack Frost is Britain's answer to Columbo, only Frost is a real, 3D, flesh and blood character. If you like procedurals with bite, you'll love this book.

An Excellent Trilogy

His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass) - book cover picture

I usually dislike science fiction books, but a friend referred me to this book and I changed my mind quickly. Pullman creates new worlds that are unique and clearly written. I started reading this book and I could tell right off it was going to be good. Pullman introduces you to Daemons, animals that follow you around all you life, early on in the book and it was this unique idea that locked me into the plot. The symbolism in the book is priceless. Pullman really outdid himself with this one.

How DARE you people put Metzler down so badly.

The Millionaires - book cover picture

I maybe only 18, and I may not have read a lot of books (maybe 25 or so), but I'll tell you one thing, this book was EXCELLENT! Nonstop excitement and undescribable suspense is the only way to tell about this book. Brad Metzler is an AMAZING author and I can't BELIEVE that so many people didn't like this book! It's DEFINATELY a MUST read! Someone in one review i read said, "He must not know a lot about the world of banking." Well, let me inform you that Metzler does EXTENSIVE research before doing any of his works. Thats why they're so GOOD! That little comment must've come from pure jealousy. He is one of the BEST author's i've ever read from in my entire life and I would recommend him to ANYONE!

Connects the reader to an important part of America's past.

Undaunted Courage - book cover picture

High adventure, personal courage, leadership, faith. They're all splendidly recounted in one of history's greatest adventure stories -- most amazing because it actually happened. An excellent narrative history, this is the kind of book that can connect one to this country's past. Lewis and Clark become much more than the reference point most of us learned about in school. Their struggles as well as personal failings are well detailed making the journey of these remarkable individuals a wonderful yarn.

Stupid White Men ...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation! - book cover picture

Michael Moore has gone to a new level with this book. When everyone else in the country is afraid to say anything negative about President Dubya, in fear that they might be swept up like an arab trying to board a plane, Moore exposes the Commander in Thief like no one else has dared to.
It is unbelievable how people turn their heads to the exploits of this administration and I commend Moore for walking right into the fire. This book is a quick read as you cant put it down.
Excellent Work, I recommend this book to anyone looking for fresh air.
