Surprisingly rich and readable for such a thing book
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Java books nowadays tend to be mammoths. You nearly break your arm lifting them off the shelf. But Paul Wang's rather slender book still packs a wallop and delivers excellent content in tons of very readable examples. You'll learn about neat, arcane topics like using Java to write CGI server programs and all sorts of things about network sockets. There are very few errors and the typefonts are especially large and readable. The only detraction, which isn't Dr. Wang's fault, is that the cover is too thin and flexible. This wonderful book deserves a hardcover!

Great book on lesser-known naval events of the Civil War
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I have at least 200 books on military history & this is my favorite book on naval history of the Civil War. It covers well-known events like the Battle of Mobile Bay & the last voyage of the Hunley but also covers little known topics like the Union Navy's "fighting ferryboats" & their disastrous Red River Campaign in 1864. This is well-written & a treasury of information for those who don't know much about the Naval aspects of the Civil War. It has some excellent b & w photos including a great photo of the CSS Nashville (after its capture at Mobile Bay) & also has the last photo ever taken of the steamer Sultana before its tragic explosion which killed over 1,600 men, even more than were lost on the Titanic or the Lusitania. This book also has a rare photo of the CSS Shenandoah which is surprisingly clear considering its age. For all military history & especially Civil War buffs this book is highly recommended.

A Not So Guilty Pleasure
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
This book is pure enjoyment! As a student of English literature, I often find myself feeling guilty about reading pulp novels or mysteries, but not this book! The Eyre Affair is "intelligent fun" and full of wit and wordplay. It's an easy read; personally, I couldn't put it down. The names of the characters are the only drawbacks; Thursday, Schitt, Hades, etc. If you can get past that, you're in for a quick-paced adventure.

Only mathematician can write this book
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I don't know why this book is labeled as "2nd Edition". It's the 3rd "face" I have seen. I did learn good stuff from the previous editions, but never recommend it to anybody for its' dry. This edition has a big change. It is succinct, reader-freindly, but still contains many useful information you won't find in other books. For instance, there is no any other book goes so depth into Pivot Table properties and methods. Comparing with the Excel 2002 VBA books written by John Walkenbach or Stephen Bullen and John Green, this book definitely presents more real 2002 features and undocumented Excel VBA issues. If you want to learn more about Excel object model, you should read this book.

Best book ever. Period.
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I first got this book as a gift while I was in the fourth grade. I really liked it and a year later I sat down to read it again. It was even better the second time. In seventh grade, I read it again and actually cried out loud. That's when I realized that I was holding a copy of the best book on this planet. I try to read it at least once a year now, because everytime I read it, I see something new. And I always cry, even though I'm 14.

The Missing 'Gator of Gumbo Limbo
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
My story was about a missing gator. Travis is a gator hunter who is trying to shoot the gator. The gator is too big for the protection law. All the characters except Travis are trying to protect him. The main characters are Dujen, Travis, Liza K., and James James. Because he is a smart young man, James James is my favorite character. In my own life I try to be good and kind to others. James James is like this, he is always considerate and thoughtful.
I liked my book. I don't have a single favorite part; My least favorite part is the authors choice of where the characters lived at the end of book. My favorite part was that Travis didn't find Dujen.
I would recomend this book to a person who likes mysteries.

Prayer is the key
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
This book should be required reading for all christains everywhere. How well we've been told to pray without ceasing, but do we? Jim Cymbala's church did and look what God has done. The church growth is not what is so impressive, but how God took obedient, ordinary people and used them to accomplish the extraordinary. This matter of prayer, is not a 'now I lay me down to sleep' thing, it's an attitude, it's all day, it's powerful! I've been challenged to 'test' my God; to pray only according to His will and not mine; to pray fervently, in secret and outloud; to tap this resource that was given so graciously to us, an undeserving people. I'm looking forward to seeing the hand of God at work right here because I'm going to obey. Thank you, Jim Cymbala, for listening to God from the start. Your ministry has just expanded.

Knowledge and Decisions---A Knockout
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Seen through the clarity of Sowell's empirical analyses, the modern liberal politician and her/his totalitarian leaning institutions are both rendered nakedly self-serving. The rise of the unaccountable, omnipotent government agency and the willingness of the Supreme Court to make policy rather than protect the Constitution degrade the principles of democratic representation in America. Individual freedom is reduced as established authorities succeed in expanding their grip on the free market process in economic, political and social venues. Sowell believes in the efficiency of private self interest rather than the articulated, unverifiable product of "intellectuals" to deliver us into a future where individual liberty is paramount. I agree. Please read this book.

Exceptionally Written
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Exceptionally well written, this book is a page turner. Heart racing with sweaty palms the reader will unfold a castrophy at sea in great detail. Junger, in my opinion, has done an excellent job in researching, compiling and presenting the necessary data in a manner that is enjoyable and easily understandable. Having no knowledge of sailing, I at no time felt uninformed or confused about the material being presented. The story is gripping from the first chapter and is highly recommended. If this book is enjoyed by the reader than strong consideration should be given to "Into Thin Air."
