Structure and Style in Boca
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Cohen adapts Pride and Prejudice to the senior set living in Boca Raton with wit, a keen eye for manners and customs, and a great sense of the rhythms of language and life one encounters there. The characters show why Austen's observations about human nature are timeless, and Cohen embodies in them the qualities of the Bennett sisters, post-menopause. Most impressive is the novel's structure, which brings the characters together--and to some self-realizations--in a formal discussion of Austen herself in one of Boca's retirement communities. The book, while mildly, often hilariously satiric, brims with a generosity of spirit and deep understanding of the generation of septuagenarian Jews and their offspring. Satisfying reading for anyone who enjoys novels of manners, Jane Austen, or finely wrought observations of life in ethnic communities.

This book was a great read!!! It was beaten only by "With a Tangled Skein". Zane was an interesting character in himself. Mortis (the pale horse(for those of you who haven't read the book)) is an ingenious creation by the master of Sci-Fi and Fantasy Himself,Piers Anthony! If you want to read an awesome book, read this. It is the first book in the Incarnatons of Immortality and a great one to start out with. All in all a great Book by the A man!!!

Out Of the Dust Review
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
"We watched as the storm swallowed in the light. The sky turned from blue to black, night descended in an instant and the dust was on us. The wind screamed. The blowing dirt ran so thick I couldn't see the brim of my hat as we plunged from the truck, fleeing. The dust swarmed like it had never swarmed before". This part of the poem Blankets of Black is one of my favorite parts of the book! This stanza is an excellent description of what it would really be like to be caught in a dust storm. I have never been that interested in reading, but this book kept me reading. It was hard for me to put the book down. I love the fantastic details that that the author put in this book. It gives you vivid pictures in your imagination about what it would be like to live during the Dust Bowl.

These books kicked major butt! The ending of "Return of the King" was the best part. Who on God's green earth could've guessed that Frodo gets messed up by the ring at the last minute, and then fights gollum and.... well, if you have read the book you know what I am talking about. I am not going to write anymore because it spoils the great ending for people who are not done with the book yet. There are many great GREAT lines that should be famous also.SHAKESPEARE, YOU USED TO BE THE BEST, BUT THIS IS THE 20TH CENTURY!!!! GET OUT OF OUR FACES, TOLKEIN IS NOW THE MASTER!!!!

A tantalising glimpse into a walled city of a virtual world.
Rating: 5/5

Starting with controversy, ushered along by mystery, and ending with a satisfying twist... This book is a delight to read, introducing the reader to a world which is still recognisable as our own, but several hops into the future. Subtle, well-placed references to icons of pop culture and world events link it to the reader's consciousness, drawing one in, and yet there is enough original material to leave you slightly wide-eyed. Like the girl fan Chia, I found myself gripped by an urgency to discover the truth; frustrated by rumour and secrecy; intrigued by the surrounding personalities. The characters are charismatic and supple, and even the minor players have a kind of nonchalant detail to them. Perhaps the only drawback of the book is its assumption that the reader is familiar with certain terms used in modern pop culture, especially Japanese phrases and ideas - still, this is a smashingly good read, and should leave you a little breathless at the end.

A Wondeful, Exciting Book
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Mass Market Paperback
This was my first SEP book. I normally read historical romances, but bought this book on a whim, off the bagain table. I've never read a book that was so romantic, sexy, and funny, all at the same time, throughout the book! I, too, found myself going back and reading the "good" (not always sexy) parts, and still do even though I finished the book days ago. Colin was wonderful. I understood his need for revenge, but oh my, what a romantic he turned out to be. Sugar Beth's sassy come-backs, and endurance, made her a great lead character. Gordon's role brought a down-to-earth aspect, especially when he had a broken home. The book was so capivating I found it hard to put it down; and when I read before bed, I found I had a hard time going to sleep. I plan to read it again in the future, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a funny, sexy, read. I will definitely read another SEP book.

Unusual and Fast Paced Narrative
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Mass Market Paperback
Military adventure is not my usual choice for pleasure reading. I picked up the book based on the copious glowing reviews on the jacket cover, and I wasn't disappointed. Whitcomb takes you behind the scenes at the FBI and shows you a side that most of the public never sees. I always pictured the FBI as suit-clad persons sitting at desks, but Cold Zero pretty much destroys that out of date idea. This book was highly entertaining, but educational also about one of the most powerful government agencies. He gives personal glimpses into the stresses of such dangerous jobs. Whitcomb's accounts of Ruby Ridge and Waco strike me as honest and forthcoming.

It's a book!

I read about 100 pages worth of book(s) a day, and I consider myself jaded to literature. This book, however, broke through my assumptions of what literature could be. With every fiber of my being, I consider it one of the chronicles of human achievement. Without this book, the world would be a more difficult place in which to live. I don't suggest everyone read it, but if you do, try to throw everything you know about everything away while reading. Relearn how to read.
