This was a GREAT BOOK. Once I started, I couldn't put it down until 8 hours later when I got to the last page - a little disappointed that it was over, but glad that I had gone along for the ride. Mr. Brown gets the reader into the pattern of breaking codes and by the time the main characters are opening scrolls and secrets, the reader is trying to solve the mystery along with them. I'm only sorry I started with his last book, and not his first ... I'm glad he's all ready working on another Prof.Langdon story. He took just enough facts / blended them with fiction, and created a tale that made you want to help him with his research. This was definitely a good book to read on a rainy weekend ... I look forward to reading his other novels.

An unspoken love
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I must admit I saw the movie first. Very literary unique and bitter-sweet true story which touch my soul. I found the book and it is even better with detailed description and sincerity. I particularly enjoyed reading the letter-format of it. It is so warm hearted and just like reading letters from friends. In fact I even felt a little guilty as if I am reading other people's private letters... This excellent book shines in drawing out the cultural and social differences between London and New York during the period of Frank and Helene letters correspondence. 84 Charing Cross Road changed their lives. They developed special friendship,an unspoken love and care for each other without even seeing each other. This is truly amazing! I think "84 Charing Cross Road" is one of the best book I had read. Easy to read, great story line, literary educational and most importantly touches my heart and soul.

Catch-up with old friends
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
What is better on a cold winter's night than to curl up with a good book or old friends? Well in Nora Robert's latest, Chesapeake Blue, you can do both. We get to catch up with the Quinn family of the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the very special young man who brought them all together, Seth. Nora Roberts gifts us with this great book and dedicates it to her readers who asked her for Seth's story. As I finished the last page my first thought was when she would write Aubry's story?

A look at knowledge creation
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I came to this book through a reference in Novak & Gowin. What caught my eye was that someone was willing to talk about an epistemological stance other than the analytic, reductionist view held in science. For the most part, I found this book's understanding of Western epistemology to be reasonable; I can't speak for the Japanese epsitemology cited. What interested me, and for which I recommend the book, is their view of knowledge creation. The case studies lend weight to their view, but they do explicate a possible model for turning subjective knowledge into explicit knowledge. They suggest a management model for making it happen. The book is very well written and edited.I believe the book needs a very careful read *outside* the business community. I would put this book down as the business version of Feynman's *The Character of Natural Law*.

Vintage Curious George
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I was already a "big girl" of thirteen, when this came out, but I still enjoyed it, and remembered certain scenes when I read this to my little boys. They empathize with George as he escapes the zoo to find his dear friend, the Man in the Yellow Hat. Witty and captivating illustrations immortalize George`s amusing series of adventures which culminate in a role in the movies. Lots of fun.

Excellent introduction to laser physics & engineering
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
This book is intended for first-year graduate and senior-level undergraduate students in physics and electrical engineering. It is clearly written with a good balance between depth and breadth, and will serve well either as a text or a reference. The first half covers laser fundamentals while the second half is more application-oriented. The math is at a level appropriate for the intended audience and is mostly fairly straightforward. At over 700 pages this book is a good value for the money.

Excellent Tool for Beginners!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I love this book! It is full of useful suggestions in almost all areas of daily living. As someone who has become all too aware of the society of consumption in which we live, this book offers so many practical suggestions for bringing life more into balance and learning to value that which is genuninely important. It also offers many additional resources at the end of each chapter. I think this book should be mandatory reading for every high school senior. I wish I had been able to read it years ago. But better late then never!

A real challenge to put down.
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
A Real Good War took a couple of chapters to lock me in but once it did I found the book a real challenge to put down. Halpert's "less is more" style is a refreshing pause from some of the painfully detailed (is skimming cheating?) bestsellers I've read recently. It is impossible for us to really share the living nightmare of a B-17 crew mandated to fly 35 missions ("the magic number") into Hell and back before they can go home. But A Real Good War brings me real close to imagining what it felt like for those thousands of seemingly expendable American boys.

I love this book, it has beautiful illistrations and few words
Rating: 5/5
Binding: School & Library Binding
The pictures tell the story. It makes it clear that our little rebel can get himself into a heap of trouble by not minding his parents. The story does no preaching, no more than a sentence or 2 per page, but it is not a simplistic children's book. The illistrations are wonderful nature paintings (don't know what the medium is). The pictures give my son and I much to talk about. He has figured out from our discussions that the racoons are a danger to our little gosling, as well as the hawk, and snapping turtle...
