Strangely, this story continues book #9, and this series usually never continues. Even though it doesn't continue, it feels right that Lemony makes more in the series. Weird, huh? Oh, well, this was better than #9 and they are starting to introduce love into this series more. *Hint* *hint* *Quagmire* Quigley* *Survivor* *Hint* LOL. Check out this book, I must agree that the last 8 or 9 books have been making the series better! Definately a good one for your LS collection.

WOW- so amazing

Bel Canto - book cover picture

WOW. This was such a great summer reading book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it on the train home everyday. I will have to admit, though that the first part of the book was the most exciting and sort of went down a small hill from there. But even with that decline, Ms. Patchett kept me interested all the way through. It is not a heavy book, nor one that makes you think but it is simply a great light, summer reading book that will be hard to put down. Did I say "WOW??"

This is an amazing book. My name on Amazon isn't just because I'm a crazed fan of the series, it's because my mother named me after the herion of this book. I think it's amazing how Ayla overcame the hardships in her life and learned to used her healing and keep her calm over Broud. She's an amazing role model to look up to, for me, and for anyone who reads this. I highly recomend this. If you won't listen to the older readers, listen to me. I'm thirteen years old, and this is one of the best books I've ever read.

Accomplished and moving

Mysteries of Small Houses (Penguin Poets) - book cover picture

An accomplished and moving book, Mysteries of Small Houses shows Alice Notley writing at the top of her form. Her autobiographical poems are rich and detailed, with an immediacy of attention that derives from her roots in the second-generation New York school, and which is used here to show the reader what it was like to have lived, at no small cost, a life dedicated to poetry. There's a highly individual sensibility at work here, and an admirable one.

GREAT for Starters and Juniors on Business Administration !!

Management (Dryden Press Series in Management) - book cover picture

I am doing well as a Senior Software Engineer working for a multinational in Europe, but I have NO knowledge about Business Administration at all :( . I have recently started a MBA course and Daft's "Management" is the first book that we are working on, in the class. The structure of this book really helps a lot people who may be good Engineers with an analytical way of thinking, but have no idea about Management and BA. Easy-reading, with contemporary real-life examples, contains TQM, MBO and all the latest trends in Management. The Summaries and Case Studies at the end of each chapter are very handy. Starts with the simples and gradually takes you to much deeper in BA. If you alreay have a career and want to change your path to a more managerial (and less engineering) level in the market, then this is the book for you...

A gripping and intriguing read

Book title: The Wars of the Roses

The Wars of the Roses - book cover picture

From 1455 to 1487, England was torn apart in a conflict that pitted a kaleidoscope of magnates, aristocrats and power-players against one another. Symbolized by the roses that represented the two royal families (York and Lancaster), this war was all about power, vengeance and position. This wonderful book begins in the 1300s, with the roots of the conflict, showing the roots of the war, and who fought it and why.I must say that it is one of the most fascinating and informative history books I have read in a while. The era that the book discusses has it all - murder, intrigue, battle, betrayal, vengeance, infidelity, murder, and much more. And, as it should be, the author takes this era, and weaves its history into a gripping and intriguing read. Overall, I found this to be a great book, and I highly recommend it to you.

Like Water for Chocolate - book cover picture

I thought this was a great book. I takes you into the depressing life of the main charactor. You learn of how she has to throw all of her dreams away to take care of her mother, which is some kind of family tradition. She later on is hit with the hard with the fact, that the man she loves is marring her sister to be close to her. The mothers roll in this book is execellent. She does damage to the main charactors life in life and death. This is one of those sad and happy ending stories, and the kind of book that you never want to put down. It is like "Mama Day", ecept it's a lot eaiser to understand. Everything from the main charactor who was never pregnant breast feeding her nephew which the mother couldn't do, to the ghost of the mother.

The need-to-read book about boys

Book title: Raising Cain : Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Audio Cassette
Raising Cain : Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys - book cover picture

"The emotional life of boys" might seem like an oxymoron, but as these two authors ably demonstrate, young boys start out MORE emotionally expressive than girls. But by the time they're six years old, we've convinced them that being "a man" means being strong, silent, and "strong" -- -- and that feelings are for girls. The authors make a strong case that genes, hormones and brain development count for less in a boy's development than emotional education. Boys CAN be as empathetic, compassionate and expressive as girls -- if we give them the tools, and if we (fathers) give them models of emotionally whole men. After you read this book, you'll never see boys the same way. This book is a real eye and heart-opener. A must-read!

A fantastic story that is very realistically told

Anita and Me - book cover picture

I came across this book by accident while I was visiting England. It is a great story. As a young 30 something myself, who grew up as an "ethnic minority" in a small community in rural upstate New York, I was amazed at the similarities in experiences that faced English Meena and the American me. I really applaud the way this book was written. Instead of making the reader feel sorry for Meena, we laugh with her, and share in her natural exuberance of life. The book also follows Meena's loss of innocence from childhood through adolescence; a loss that is unfortunately part of growing up. I felt that this book crossed cultural boundaries and would appeal to many people. I really liked the book and couldn't put it down until I'd finished reading it. A "must read" book.

Know thy enemy is this book's premise.

Book title: The Screwtape Letters
Rating: 5/5

The Screwtape Letters - book cover picture

Lewis gives us excellent insight and perspective on the nature of temptation and how Satan works. The work is set up as correspondances between a beaucrat in hell and his nephew Wormwood. The letters are advice and training for Wormwood who is given charge of luring certain people down to Hell. The book is entertaining, humorous, but also deep and should strike a chord with those expiriencing strong temptation in their life towards some form of evil. The best way to fight your enemy is to know him, and this book is an theory on how the devil and his angels might work to take souls away from God. The book is also very easy to read, and without the pretentious philosophical jargon that theologians use. It's down to earth, common sense theology taught in story form. An excellent work!
