Good book. Not one of the more amazing stories to come out of the Star Wars storyline, but still good. It is set in between ESB and ROTJ. It is worth reading simply for the attention paid to Vader. It gives a good inside look into what he feels, thinks, wants, and goes well with the new prequels.
The Prince Xizor is a little weird, and not the type of bad-guy that I enjoy. I'm sure other people thought he was great, but I would rather Vader stay in the role of the bad guy. He was original though, and made for interesting reading.
The book was a fun read overall and highly recommended to Star Wars fans. All the main characters are there (except for Solo of course) along with some new ones including Dash Rendar, rogue and braggert.

Vonnegut at his Best
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
This is one of my all time favorite books. I first read this book when I was in high school. I so loved the work that I went on to read the rest of the books written by Vonnegut. Since then, I have become a voracious reader. It is all because of this book. It was perhaps the first book that taught me the joy of reading. Looking back on it now, I think of how it warned me of chasing my own sirens in life. If only then I had understood the book as I do now! Perhaps I could have avoided a wrong turn or two. In any event, this is really one of those books that everyone needs to read at least once.

This book made me feel so good that I wanted to move to Martha's Vineyard to experience Susan Branch's seasons and possibly be neighbors with her! I am no homemaker type, cooking is hard for me and normally I am cynical about these kinds of books. But what a happy surprise this book was. Great ideas for parties and the details of entertaining, not just how to make the food. I certainly love my copy - especially the section on Fall - made me feel all warm and halloween-ish!

Apart from the magnificent storytelling, the science fiction, the love story, and the 'down to earth' (as we say in Denmark) philosophy and poetic intensity and charm, reading Dan Simmons Epic is a must for everyone, who wants to understand European and especially American foreign policy. Who can ever say; I'm not a part of world history' after reading this saga?ps. And thanks to the author for introducing the works of John Keats to so many younger I-did'nt-know-him-before.
