Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot - book cover picture

Everyone surprised that avowed Limbaugh listeners disliked this book, please raise your hands? *crickets* Thought not.The problem with this book is that it is thoroughly researched and terrifyingly accurate. Unlike Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity (neither of whom were relevant upon first printing), Savage (come to think of it, they aren't terribly relevant now), et al, this book deals with facts that can be proven--and have been. It also deals with the hypocrisy and lies of the right for the last few decades. It would help if the detractors of this book actually READ it. And if you're going to go that far, why not read it with an open mind? Check his facts for yourself. Then go back and check any fact from any broadcast of any of the above "gentlemen." A fair, intelligent reader would give Franken his due. Of course, a fair reviewer would have read the book.

Oath - book cover picture

I'm not much of a reader, but this book was awesome! It was full of suspense and made me realize the awesomeness of God's grace--the only way for the good guy to live and survive his encounter with the dragon--sin--was to accept Jesus! It's so true and will make you realize the power of God and spiritual battles that go on every day in your life! It gave me a new perspective of God's grace and Satan's sneaky way of getting us hooked on to anything different than God.

The Theory of Knowledge: Classic and Contemporary Readings - book cover picture

My thoughts are: This is a book worth buying in hardback. Save your money. It is comprehensive in its scope of the subject and it is also well organized. Perennial edition. A superb place to pick-up the subject. The articles are short and sweetly picked. All articles are complete reprints, not abridgements. Some of the essays include The Goodman article on "grue", The Gettier problem, Kripke, A.J.Ayer "The apriori" kant, Stawson, Plato and Stace. Easily the best catalogue of articles bound together on this subject so far. Yes, it's expensive. But for your money you get prime articles in a well typset book. Easy on the eye. It just saves time, and puts you in the spotlight of contemporary discussion on epistemology. Pity no radical or mystical aspects.

Ghost of Winter (Mechwarrior Series, 1) - book cover picture

At first I thought this was going to be another good guys on planet and evil bad guys come rushing in. Kenson suprised me. After I read through about 40 to 50 pages I couldn't put the book down. It was suspensful while entertaining, with of course a brilliant story line. The ending was also awesome (though I won't spoil it for anyone who hasen't read it yet), though it pretty stereo typical. Anyway, awesome book to start off a new series, if you haven't got. GET IT.

Dawn's Wicked Stepsister (Baby-Sitters Club, 31) - book cover picture

This is a nicely written story about the differences in personalities and reinforces that old adage about not knowing someone until you live with them. Mary-Anne's dad marries creepy Dawn's mother. They are polar opposites -- he's fastidious and fussy, like Felix Unger whereas she is casual and cavalier, like Oscar Madison. I thought some of her misplaced items were actually funny, e.g. socks in the refrigerator and the like.Mary-Anne has to contend with the pushy, overbearing Dawn. (Poor kid)! She is a gentle, somewhat naive girl who has a good heart and would not even so much as swat a mosquito. Dawn, on the other hand would walk over her own brother and mother in a second. She is brash and inconsiderate and in general is a brat. The parents each support the step child in the interest of furthering family harmony and luckily it all gets resolved in the end. Each girl gets her own room and luckily the house was big enough to provide this nice solution.

I loved this book. I did not want it to end.

Belva Plain made the characters come to life in this novel. I thought the ending was excellent. Lore was a very interesting character and Belva kept her doings a secret to the end. There was a lot of interesting history in this book, the second world war, the nazis, the persecuted Jews. It really gave you a feeling of what those years were like for some people. It was a very realistic story of what could have happened in those years. All of the emotions of life were displayed...death, birth, war, hate, love, loyalty, honesty, dishonesty and so on. Belva, hurry with another novel and I will be the first in line to buy it.

Glory Lane - book cover picture

its strange, when i found out the paperback copy of Glory Lane was out of print I was quickly at second hand book stores buy every copy so i could give it out as gifts to everyone I know. So far abut 20 copies have passed through my hands. Glory Lane is by far the best of Foster's work. Not to say his others are not great, just no where near the degree of Glory Lane. Granted its not the greatest work in literture on a scholarly level, but on a pure human emotional level you can't get any better.

Mackenzie Family (Silhouette Promo) - book cover picture

Linda Howard has got me hooked. Everytime I'm in a store I look for her name. The MacKenzie's series is so great. The way these characters interact with eachother reminds me so much of my own family it's scary. I can't wait until Chance's story comes out. Linda you've got a good thing going here. I hope you're planning on telling the grandchildren's stories, because it's going to be hard to let the MacKenzie Family series end.

True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle - book cover picture

We thoroughly enjoyed this book. It captivates you from the very beginning. This book uses great imagery and descriptive language. We felt that the book made us feel as if we were on the ship with Charlotte. Every aspect of that book reached out to us. We feel that this would be a great book to use in the classroom. The descriptive language is wonderful and would be an excellent example to use when teaching this concept. We feel that this book would be beneficial for 5-7th Grade. Once again we really enjoyed reading this book.

A Caress of Twilight (Meredith Gentry Novels (Paperback)) - book cover picture

I give this and the previous novel A Kiss of Shadows..5 ***** firstly I would add unlike some of the reviewers I actually enjoyed both books more than the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series.. Firstly I found both books funny and I loved all the characters.. I says its every womans fantasy to have a guard of men.. who you can take to bed with you every night.. I found it refreshing change to one woman one man senario.. so Merry and her Raven Guards and her various contacts..all have interesting personality trates..
Its also gruesome in places.. If you want something totally different and total fantasy.. here is the books for you but you really need to read A Kiss of Shadows first.. I for one can not wait for the next installment.. I shall say no as I do not want to give away the story... But this series is one I shall continue purchasing and on my keeper shelf to re-read at a later date....
