When I first read Harry Potter, I nearly chucked the book across the room, but, after reading the first three, the fourth book seemed to jump right into action. I like the characters Rowling creates like Bagman, or Rita Skeeter. Like all the other critics who read this book, I think you should read the other three in their respective orders first. Not, however, because it has info that you'll want, but you need the plot of them, the suspense! Harry is living with his horrible relatives, and is dying to go anywhere besides the Dursley's home. I won't give away the plot. Read the book! (Note that, even though I'm one, I didn't err in the spelling)

This book should be read in every high school in America. The shocking beauty of the words cannot help but transform the reader and his opinions about the effect of World War II on the ordinary German people. Remarque is sadly known only for "All Quiet on the Western Front". His best work and my personal favorite is "Arch of Triumph" but no ones time would be wasted on reading any of his work. If this man wrote the telephone book I would read it.

WOW!!!!
Unless you get recipes from your Cuban grandmother there is nothing better than this book. The writer's lovely descriptions of her days as a little girl in Cuba and the can't miss recipes are what make this book a true gem. I was happy to see recipes for dishes that I grew up with but never knew how to make. If you have the time and calories to spare make the Pastel De Pollo it is divino!!!
The recipe for Mojo Criollo was great, I made it with Yuca for Thanksgiving and my entire Cuban family thought it was my grandmother's recipe.
Gracias Mary your book will be treasured in my home.

My sister bought this book because she's a gossip girl aficionado, so she thought this would be an interesting book. After she read it, she is always telling me about this book, about how great it is, how fabulous it is, so to stop it, I read it. First I love it, and then it's starting to become boring about Poppy's Ruby Hummingbird, then it is starting to become exciting again when Anna's trip to Mexico begins. So I ended up loving this book! They should make this a movie! Ok, I'll go now, I should go to beach and learn to surf!!! YEAH!

Incredible, my favorte book of all time

This has to be my favorite book of all time. It is the beginning to an epic saga, in my opinion, much greater than Tolkins. The scenes and characters (however minor) stick with you long after you have put this remarkable book down. The righting is vivid and detailed, it feels as if you are right there with Roland pursuing the Man in Black and later his quest for the Tower. One of the remarkable things about this epic series is the world (or worlds) that are its settings. The imagination used to create the setting in these volumes is incredible. There is, in my mind, only one major flaw in The Dark Tower series, and that is that it has to end. The Gunslinger and The Dark Tower series is a must have for any reader. I urge you to by this book. I guarantee you will be engrossed in this amazing epic.

Years ago, in high school, I picked up this book for fun. Not typically a reader of fantasy, I was amazed at the power and majesty of this, Rawn's first book. Quickly, I devoured the rest of the series, but always come back to this one, almost as a comfort. This book is one in a million and I recommend it to anyone, not just lovers of fatasy and sci-fi. I have loaned it to many friends and given it often as a gift. Read this and treasure it...its characters are friends for life!
