NO: a classic of LITERATURE

Planet of the Apes - book cover picture

Well, I have mixed feelings about this new edition. On the one hand, I'm very glad to have it back in print. On the other hand, it is appalling for it to appear in a series called "Cinema Classics". The movie "Planet of the Apes" is one of the worst ever made, and the always inept Charleston Heston is dreadful in the featured role. Please, if you enjoyed the film version, don't even touch this. Go back to your own planet.

Simply Magical

Book title: The China Garden
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
The China Garden - book cover picture

The China Garden was the perfect mix of fantasy and reality. It was so creative and you can not even imagine what would happen next. I mean you have an idea about the simple plot of the story, but it takes you on an amazing maze of intricate mixing stories. It is truely an amazing tale that keeps you guessing until the end. Even though there are a lot of names and dates, you really can read that information and forget about it and worry about the better things, like what is the Benison and when will Clare see Mark again?!
Thank you Jessica Lynn for letting me borrow this book!!

The Book of Three (Prydain Chronicles) - book cover picture

You better not get hooked ao this book if your Mom makes you go to bed early because this book will make you want to stay up all night long! This book is for people who like adventure, mystery and combat, for girls and boys. A young pig keeper (Taran) has a dream to be a warrior and a hero, he sets out with a prince warrior Gwydon. Little does he know that a big adventure with all kinds of enemies is about to begin. I guess my favorite part is when Taran meets his first monster, a cauldronbottom. I give this story five stars for the way it makes you never want to stop reading.

One of my favorite books ever!

Book title: Titanic: The Long Night
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Mass Market Paperback
Titanic: The Long Night - book cover picture

I loved this book. It told the story of the ill-fated ocean liner, the Titanic, which sank on her first and final voyage, on April 15, 1912, taking with it the lives of 1,500 people. The story is told through the stories of five fictional teenagers. In first class are Elizabeth Farr and Max Whittaker. In third class are Katie Hanrahan and Brian and Patrick Kelleher. What will happen to these characters when the Titanic hits an iceberg and sinks? Read to find out!

House of the Spirits - book cover picture

I really love this Isabel Allende's inspirational book "The House of The Spirits". It is the story of young, proud men and women who suffer and triumph in many ways. When I started reading this book I could not stop I felt as if I were living it out with the charachters because of the persuasive language. It is a magical tale with force, passion, charm. It is unforgetable tale that anyone would love to read! Enjoy!

In a Class by Itself

Book title: Ashes to Ashes
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Ashes to Ashes - book cover picture

The story of the Cremator barrels forward, slowed only by a difficult romance. The romance is the only predictable part of this surprising book. I can usually figure out a mystery by half or two thirds through, but with this book, I was kept in suspense until the author revealed something ~ and even then, the book still kept coming up with surprises. Scary, but highly recommended, even though the author did seem to be trying to see how many times she could write 'proactive' in one book. Also, as this is set in Minneaopolis, at first I kept expecting Lucas Davenport to drive up in his Porsche. Best to find a day when you have nothing else to do to read this book, because once you start, you won't be able to put it down.

RD/PD the power of MLM????

Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money--That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! - book cover picture

I have read more than a half dozen reviews (probably same person) attributing the success to Rich Dad, Poor Dad to network marketing (MLM).I don't know if there is any truth to that or not, but I sure hope so.You see, I just signed up into a MLM company (not Amway) and if MLM can turn a book into a mega best aeller like some people have indicated, then that certaintly prooves the power of network marketing. And obviously Network Marketing (MLM) is far more powerful than that cheesy, supposedly well researched (it's not) website that gets getting mentioned here or the constant barrage of 1 star bashers (really just one person with a attitude problem) and obviously more successful than the self publishing industry. Thanks to RD/PD, I have reorganized my investments, started a successful business and am sharing this info with family and friends.1 star reviewer (s), get a life already!

A VARY good book

Book title: Tangerine
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Tangerine - book cover picture

This half sports story, half adventure story takes place in western Florida where muck fires rage wild underground and it rains every day. The book's main character is named Paul. Paul's older brother, Erik, is the star of the High School football team. Paul's sport is soccer and after a sinkhole swallows the school, he starts going to the town's other school, which makes him fit in with the toughest kids, who happen to be the soccer players. At the same time, something is terribly wrong with Eric, and no one can see it except Paul. This was a very good book because it was realistic. "

Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand (The Ayn Rand Library, Volume 6) - book cover picture

Leonard Peikoff's *Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand* is a magnificent work that manages to completely present Ayn Rand's philosophy in a few hundred pages. The presentation is clear and complete, covering all the important points of the philosophy. It is generally recommended that readers have previous exposure to Rand's works, especially her novels *The Fountainhead* and *Atlas Shrugged*, but also her nonfiction works such as *Virtue of Selfishness*, *Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal*, and *The Romantic Manifesto*. This book will not disappoint those who were seeking a more complete exposition of Ayn Rand's ideas in one convenient volume.Well worth reading several times.

Honey, Mud, Maggots, and Other Medical Marvels: The Science Behind Folk Remedies and Old Wives' Tales - book cover picture

Whether or not you buy the conclusions of the authors in regards to the treatments in this book, their discussion and analysis of these treatments in historical context and why the treatments were effective, is extremely important in understanding the evolution of medicine. And if you are someone who is interested in researching folk medicine or discovery of medical treatments, this book is an excellent resource. It certainly presents a lot of information not ordinarily available to the layperson.
