Modern, funny, original. Bought it because of the cover, read it because I got hooked and have since given it to three other people all of whom loved it. You don't have to know or care a thing about marketing or Coke to fully enjoy these pages. You just have to like to read. Of course the problem is, it's a first novel, so once you're done you can't then go and read the other books. The good news is that there is no doubt more to come from this fresh, funny and excellent writer.

Black Boy: (American Hunger) (Perennial Classics) - book cover picture

I totally felt like I was a part of this book when I was reading it. At times, it could have gone a little faster, but it was altogether a well-written book. The way the author wrote the book made you understand exactly how the characters looked and felt at the various parts of the book. What's good about it is that it's pretty fast-paced.I know I can't ever feel exactly how Richard, the main character, felt, but the way he explained how he felt in everything he did made me completely understand him. It's just one of those books that you can't really say how you felt about it,but it's really good. And another good thing about this book is the things that Richard did make everyone feel a little better about themselves.I again would recommend this book for anyone who cares or wants to be informed in details what type of things people would go through in those times.

The LAST Self-Help Book I Will Ever Need

How to Get What You Want and Want What You Have: A Practical and Spiritual Guide to Personal Success - book cover picture

Over the years, I have read several self-help books to help me figure out why I am stuck and not getting anywhere. Most of them were OK, but they did not quite point in the direction I needed to go. I picked up Gray's book on a whim, and I am happy to say that it is changing my life. The ideas he presents are simple (when you think about them) yet so profound you cannot help but change if you apply them correctly. Most importantly, Gray outlines a plan of action to deal with what is holding you back that is clear, concise, and incredibly powerful. If you are ready to stop spending time and money spinning around on the self-help carousel and start finally getting on with your life, I would strongly recommend reading this work.

Ballet Shoes for Anna - book cover picture

I am a huge fan of Noel Streatfeild's work. Ballet Shoes for Anna is an exciting and different style of writing that I enjoyed. Instead of Streatfeild's usual way of writing from the performer (usually girls), this book is mostly in the point of view of Anna's two brothers, Francesco and Gussie, who are trying to get Anna her needed ballet lessons without their Uncle Cecil, who they moved in with when their parents died, knowing, who believes dancing to be a sin.

Rebecca - book cover picture

What's most excellent is that Rebecca, who's dead, is protrayed differently by the people who knew her. Yet the contrasting protraits is VERY rather fascinating because you wonder," Who is the REAL Rebecca?"; because, each protrait is biased and less than accurate. The author's style reminds me of Margaret Mitchell's: excellent and good balance of characters, narrative, setting, description, plot, ...etc (yet both of them stand alone in their successes). The plot had such great twists, especially spooky ones, that I must admit, I stayed up quite late when I should have lett early for the SATs the next day. But I HAD to read it! The very slight love scenes were nicely done: less was certainly more, yet it still gave me warm chills.

But it also have a good messageabout God that without his help we're nothing. Sometimes we have obstacles that we pased if we have courage and a goal to achive in our lifes, no matter what the pople around us say we can do anything we want if we ignored them. Because is a lot of people that listen to others and they don't realized thire personal legend. I think that we need to listend to uor hearts whether is to look for treasure or love. I am surprised that the veracity of this book is doubted. Sajer was born in Wissembourg, in Alsace. He wrote the book in 1967 during the "student protests" in France. His theme was "look at these young people whining about their condition. They do not know what suffering is."
Sajer was about 40 years old when he wrote the book, only 22 years after the war had ended. He referred to himself as "living apart from the human condition" after his experiences fighting for the Germans then rediscovering a French identify in 1945 and being made to join the French Army.
Painful experiences always sharpen a memory. So what if his name does not apper in regimental records? The Gross Deutchland Division was "reconstructed" 6 times over between 1940 and 1945. Most of its records were destroyed by enemy activity. The book is fact.

A physchological thriller that enters the realm of molestation as a child, bondage, and self-esteem. Throughout the days Jessie is hand-cuffed to her bed and her husband lay dead on the floor, she is revisted with past emotions that make each hour she is chained to the bed a living. Through hearing voices, and seeing figures, she allows her self to release her emotions in a frightful, yet melodramatic way, creating an intense, frightful novel that keeps the reader reading just wondering how much more she will sink into the depths of emotional hell.

The Feingold diet saved my child's life

Why Your Child Is Hyperactive - book cover picture

Dr Feingold's theory is that bad behaviour and/or learning disabilities in otherwise bright children is caused by artifical colors and flavors. Although it may seem too simplistic, it is the answer IF you, as a parent, are willing to alter your lifestyle by reading ingredient labels and preparing food that is normal, natural and healthy. A child cannot do this on their own! But you will save your child's future and maybe your own sanity. A must buy!

Book title: The Portable Jung (Viking Portable Library)

The Portable Jung (Viking Portable Library) - book cover picture

I've put off reading up on anything more "core" Jungian than Man and His Symbols and Memories, Dreams, Reflections, because I believed the story that he was difficult to follow. The book is exciting! Jung's insight and sense of humor shine through as does his self-consciousness about being part of a science still in it's infancy. I've also read VonFranz's intro to symbolism in Alchemy, and I'm sure other things Jung has written attain that density, or greater(/worse). I've no idea how much is owed to the editing of Campbell, but Jung is so lucid in this book that much of what he describes seems almost like (experienced) common sense by the time he's done.
