Loving, twisting tale
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
What a wonderful book! I truly enjoyed reading it and had a hard time putting it down. In fact, I stayed up all night reading it. It was well written and so full of love. A true love story. This novel also kept me coming back for more with the twists and turns throughout. Plus, the relationships are well developed between the characters and you'll really feel like you know them by the end. I can't wait for Brian Corrigan's next book!

My initial reaction to seeing this book make a comeback, after all these years, decades, and partial centuries was, "Oh, no. Here we go again---having to slog through some laborious 'Classic' that should have been left on the shelf long ago to collect its share of deserved dust." Boy, was I wrong! I'll admit that I like most of the Oprah picks, (The exception being the "One Hundred Years of Solitude"), so I thought I should at least invest a good ten minutes at the local bookstore revisiting this Tolstoy "Masterpiece." The result was that I found myself still standing there an hour later, resulting in having to make a purchase on Amazon when I got home. My suggestion? Give this one a try as it's not the heavy-handed treatment you might have come to expect from those difficult Russians. it is well written and has some marvelous insight into the human condition. The one thing Tolstoy is really noted for are his characters, and Anna Karenina is by far his most memorable.

How true it is!

This book makes a strong political statement that everyone needs to hear. This is what will happen if we continue to believe everything the government tells us and we stop thinking for ourselves. Who wants to survive the nuclear holocaust if we are doomed to die slowly on a poisoned planet earth? If you love this book like I do, you may want to find a copy of the video/movie to rent. It is just as compelling to watch as it is to read. Any Pink Floyd fan will want to hear the music by Roger Waters which never made it to an album. If you want to read another story about post-nuclear war, try On the Beach by Nevil Shute.

Fantastic ending to the series
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Like countless others, I have loved the Donovan stories from the first book. Midnight in Ruby Bayou was a fitting end to this great series. The book kept you hooked from the beginning. The story line flowed and the interaction between the two main characters, Faith and Owen, was great. I loved both characters. The pain from past mistakes was evident in the relationship yet the romance kept building! I also loved the glimpses into the other Donovan siblings and the introduction of the next generation of Donovans. The book was the perfect blend of government plots, assasins on the loose, family secrets and romance. If you have not read this series by Lowell go out and get it. Start from the first book, Amber Beach, and let yourself fall in love with this family. I hope sometime in the future Ms. Lowell considers finishing this series with the stories of Lawe and Justin. But I look forward to her next book in a whole new series.

Even better than the film!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I have to admit, I bought this book about 10 years after the film was released, so I was pretty slow to get started...and now I'm sorry I left it so long. This book is a masterpiece, a truly brilliant adventure. This book has set the standards for fantasy/science-fiction/adventure books forever. Crichton has quite clearly done some background digging, but whilst doing this incorporated his own ideas to create a fresh, realistic story. The way he words things, the descriptions of the characters and dinosaurs and the extensive insight into genetic cloning at the begining all add to the final touch, and ultimately make this novel totally believable. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Relentless Resurrection
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Good Catholic Girls is the good news story coming out of the Catholic Church today. At long last, we are heartened by living beacons of hope and courage and faith. These women are walking to Jerusalem, taking on the status quo mired in laws that exclude, proclaiming the gospel message of a banquet table set for all people, and, most importantly, willing to surrender to the consequences of their life's calling -no matter what is required. Why? Because they believe in a church that is embued with relentless resurrection. A church, in imitation of the Christ, that is always coming into a new way of being - no matter what the price. Thank you, Angela, for reminding us of who we are called to be!

If it weren't true.....
Rating: 5/5

you might think it too contrived. This is an intriguing story, incredibly well written, by one of the best authors of the period. The story concerns the German government's double-dealing during WWI and their efforts to keep the U.S. out of the European theater by any means possible. To tell more would be unfair to the reader of this review, but suffice it to say that this roughly 200 page paperback is a one day read that will leave you well informed and most entertained.

A fantastic epic of glamourous werewolves
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Loved this book. I've heard it's the first in a major series. It does for werewolves what Anne Rice did for vampires. Donna Boyd's werewolves are brilliant, seductive, romantic, capable of both immense good and evil. Forget everything you know about werewolf mythology! The Passion has the rich feel of a historical novel combined with the edginess of a modern plot. I predict Donna Boyd is going to develop a large and loyal following, starting with this book.

Wonderful Memoir
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
This is one of the best Memoir/Autobiographies I have read. The interior is filled with emotional ups and downs. There is tears and laughter. The look inside the self as to why someone does the things they do. to be brought up in an-for lack of a better word-Eccentric life is at times abusive and yet this author finds humor in his own unhappiness. I would rank this book up there with the likes of 'Nightmares Echo','Lucky',and "Dry'-all great memoirs that each tell a story.
