Liar's Moon is a literary treasure!
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
When I initially read the book jacket, I thought it might be a good read, but I didn't immediatly buy it. Being born and raised in Philadelphia, I hadn't really felt any kinship with the Old West. Every trip thereafter to the bookstore, brought me back to the shelf where this book lay. Each time I would pick the book up and read a page or two, still not entirely sure. I thought it kind of eerie that each time I was called to that book. I was meant to read it. I was completely taken in after the first chapter. I read a chapter each day, savoring each one. After reading the entire book, I was sad it was over, it shouldn't end so soon. This is American folklore at it's best. Though folklore, it's an opportunity to reflect on our history, the way things were, or could have become. Philip Kimball deserves an award for this work. I'm happy to discover this treasure for my collection. It belongs with my Hemingways and Faulkners.

GREAT!

I thought this book was excellent! Although I was a bit confused at the beginning, towards the middle I began to understand it a lot better. The book was very deep and made you think about each sentence that was in it. Usually books make you confused at the beginning and it explains everything at the end, but this book was different. At the end, you were questioning things. It made you go through all the possibilities because it never gave you a direct answer on almost everything. I would advise everyone to read this!

A Fabulous Find
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I began my quest of simplification with an evening searching for books on the topic. I came across "30 Days to a Simpler Life" and several others which I eventually ended up sending back. This one, however, was the keeper. It is truly of the best books I've read... not necessarily because it taught me any great universal truths I've never heard of, but more because it allowed me to find what I needed within to turn my life around. And I truly believe that the authors intended it for this very purpose. Since purchasing the book nearly a year ago, my life and house have done a 180. Identifying with the "Downshifted Simplifier", I took to heart all of the advice given on the topic of minimalism. My friends and family came to my apartment and wondered what happened. They loved the change! And most of all, I love the change. Thank you Connie Cox and Cris Evatt for writing a book that simply "hit the spot"!

Brief provides a good read, but who knows if he's right

This is a very entertaining book. Brier has a knack for making ancient Egypt and its long-dead rulers come alive. The circumstantial evidence surrounding King Tutankhamun's death is certainly thought-provoking, but at this late date we simply cannot know for sure how he died or whether foul play was involved. Still, this book was fun to read, and I would recommend it to others who are interested in ancient Egypt.

Vanished my fear that I was having a nervous breakdown.
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I had never been in the position of losing a partner before. I went to a therapist and she gave me this book to read. While reading this book my fears about never being the same again started going away, and I began to feel that it was okay to feel the way I was. This book should be read by anybody who has lost a loved one. I am getting several copies to give to people when they lose a loved one. This book brought me back from the nightmare I was in.

I confess. I have an 11 year old granddaughter, but I would have read the Harry Potter books anyway! I am well-educated, with an A.B. and J.D. Really good children's books are not limited by age. The 3d book in the Harry Potter series is by far the best---and the other two are excellent. They are for all ages, not just the young. You should discuss the ethical issues with your children/grandchildren. The stories captivate both young and old. (Okay, middle-aged.)

AWESOME
Rating: 5/5

I just finished this book and I can honestly say that I have not been so emotionally moved by any other book. Of course I am a huge LA fan but this book will take you through emotions comparable to the ascents and descents of the Alps and Pyrennes encountered in the Tour de France. Bold and matter of fact writing that keeps you interested from cover to cover. Great insight into two of the most brutal struggles put to man-the Tour de France and cancer. As the book says,"VIVA LANCE!"

I once met Capstick
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I would like to begin this by saying "It would have been nice to have met him in Africa" but alas it was selling real estate in Naples, Florida. Capstick stopped by to pick up a key for one of our listings. I had no idea who he was, of course, however, he was without a doubt a memorable figure. Tall, a bit gaunt, very present and powerful in who he was.About a month later I saw it advertised that he was at a book signing for his first book "Death in the Tall Grass" I did not go to the signing or for that matter never saw him again but years later I purchased this title at a used book store. It was first class reading and count me among those who could not put it down.

The *best* book on Altars
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I've looked at every book I could get my hands on about the subject of Altars, and Denise Linn's book on the topic is, in my opinion, the best. Many of the other books have way too much text, but Denise Linn's book on Altars has lots of great pictures and just the right amount of descriptive text. She also has wonderful suggestions on various types of altar objects (with pictures), where to find different altar objects, imaginative altar layouts, etc. This is a *must have* book, and unfortunately, I'm sad to see that it is currently out of print. So if you can find a used one, grab it ! ! You won't be disappointed.

The standard medical textbook on Manic-Depressive Illness
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
This is an invaluable resource for anyone with
Bipolar Disorder (Manic-Depressive Illness) or
anyone who loves them. Though targeted at
medical professionals, most of the information
presented is well within the grasp of an intelligent
and motivated layperson. I'm not a doctor of any
sort, but I *do* have Bipolar Disorder, and take
an active interest and role in my own health-care...
this is a terrific book, and it summarizes what is
known about the causes, treatment, and management
of this disorder as of about 1990. (Hopefully,
there will be an update soon!)
