Shopaholic & Sister - book cover picture

Before I bought this book I had read the reviews and I was disappointed to see that most everyone was saying they weren't pleased with this book. I am now done with reading shopaholic & sister, I found it to be great!!!! By now you know the characters and in this book you have a sense of emotion and understanding of what each character is thinking and going through!
I thought it was a typical Becky Brandon (Bloomwood) rollercoaster. The ending of this book just left it open for another shopaholic adventure!!! I can't wait to hear what will happen next. Honestly a MOVIE should be made from these series haha I highly recommend!!!!

Promises (Sweet Valley High) - book cover picture

This book was perfect! It was very shocking that Betsy is moving to Wakefields. I hated Elizabeth in this book. Why? Because she believes that Betsy can change but in "Head Over Heels" and in "Memories" she doesn't believe that Bruce and Cara haven change. Of course Betsy have, but Liz is still a hypocrite. This book was wonderful. The beginning was sad and ending was happy. Isn't that cool?

Bradbury's writing is sensational! A 1st-rate book!

Book title: Fahrenheit 451
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Fahrenheit 451 - book cover picture

The sheer poetry of Ray Bradbury's words in F451 is absolutely amazing. Not only that, but he also gives a chilling look into a very possible future, were books are burned. And it shows how insignifigant and stupid people become without books. Bradbury is a 1st-rate writer, and Farenheit 451 is no exception. This and Dandelion Wine are his two best books EVER. A compelling, chilling story, and a must read for those who like futuristic stories, Bradbury stories, and poetic stories.

Another Awesome Scarpetta Book

Book title: Trace
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Mass Market Paperback
Trace - book cover picture

This is yet another one of Patricia Cornwell's great books. I just love reading about Kay Scarpetta. I have to admit I do miss her working in her old job, but she still shines through on this one. I think one of the things I really like about it also was that she really brought Lucy her niece more into the book. It is good because it continues on from the book before it makes you wonder if she is ever going to catch the bad guy or not. I really hope she makes another Scarpetta book soon

The most effective use case book.

Book title: Writing Effective Use Cases

Writing Effective Use Cases - book cover picture

I had been writing use cases for some time when I stumbled upon the first draft of this book, which Mr. Cockburn very graciously made publicly available on his website (don't look for it now, the drafts have been removed). It became not only my personal bible for writing effective use cases; it became the foundation for every group of engineers, designers, analysts, and even suits I taught to read and write use cases. It conveyed the essence and intention of use cases better than I or any other book could. I must state my personal preference for the first draft, which was more strongly worded in some areas and generated more emotional emphasis on some topics where engineers can be very wrongheaded. However, all my subsequent reading groups tended to prefer the third draft, so any reservations I may have I forego and gratefully give this book five stars. It's required reading.

One of the three best books I've ever read

Book title: The Pillars of the Earth
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
The Pillars of the Earth - book cover picture

This is a must read book. Don't let the size intimidate you. When I first looked at this book, I thought it would take forever to get through. It took over my life ( I read while waiting for traffic lights to change! ). Great character development. At times you wish you could get inside this story and despence some justice. Many great moments in story will envoke a full gambit of emotions. Near the end of the book you will truely be sad to see it comming to an end. I would love to see a sequill.

Tinker tailor soldier spy

Book title: Hostile Contact
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Hostile Contact - book cover picture

This book took me back to by-gone realm when George Smiley battled his arch nemesis in Moscow Center. While the enemy is more up-to-date (the Red Chinese), the stakes nonetheless are the same.

George Shreed is dead. Long live George. Was he a double agent, stretching back over decades of deceit? Was a brilliant spymaster, who managed to land a master stroke against his enemies? Did Chen control Shreed or was it the other way around? And what was/is Chinese Checkers?

This book takes up where TOP HOOK ends. Only things are not going well for the good guys. I loved the tug of war and the not quite bad and not quite good characters.

The one thing I really don't like in this book is the hero Alan Craik. I think he's an over zealous hot dog that should have been yanked out of the Navy. Leaving that aside, the book has a marvelous pacing that keeps you reading well into the night.

Great for Teens!

Book title: Girls in Love
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Girls in Love - book cover picture

Girls in Love is an awesome introduction into the world of these three characters. Ellie, Magda and Nadine. They are all freshmans in highschool, and all...dateless. Until one day, Nadine confesses to having a boyfriend. Ellie (main character) starts a lie that goes way to far. Farther than she wanted it to go. She didn't want to seem like an out cast. How far did it go? And did Ellie confess it was all a lie? Read this book to find out! I recomend this book because it tells about true love, and how you shouldn't have low-self esteem. One of the characters gets used by an older boy and doesn't realize it until the end...when her friends come to the rescue!

Freud and Beyond: A History of Modern Psychoanalytic Thought - book cover picture

This book is very well written. An excellent introduction to the topic, if you are a guy like me, who had been thru psychoanalisys but really didn't understand what the foundations of the process were. The author explains that there are many different theories and kinds of psychoanalisys, not only one (freud), like most of us think. Even though the subject is hard and complex, the author makes it easy to understand with his fluent prose.

Scarier than the movie

Book title: The Haunting
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
The Haunting - book cover picture

Shirley Jackson tells the tale of Hill House and the four "seekers" in a masterful style. It was truly scary when I read it. Although it did leave many questions unanswered, it leaves room for your imagination to answer the questions. In fact, someone else might write a continuation of the book. (Shirley Jackson can't, though- she's dead) See both versions of the movie. Don't expect to be scared out of your wits- but if you still see movies just for FUN, see The Haunting. P.S. Read the book at night!
